Mumbai and its neighbouring districts have been hit by heavy rainfall since Sunday night, causing widespread disruption across local train services, roads and flight schedules.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for the city and suburbs. Citizens are advised to stay away from coastal and low-lying areas and be cautious while travelling.
Train Travel: Expect Delays
- Central Line (CSMT–Kalyan): Trains are running 15–20 minutes late due to possible waterlogging on tracks.
- Western Line (Virar–Churchgate): Fast locals are 5 minutes late, while slow locals are 10 minutes behind schedule.
- Harbour Line (Panvel–CSMT and vice versa): Services are facing delays of 5–10 minutes.
Commuters are strongly advised to check the updated train schedules before stepping out, especially as the workweek begins. Slower train speeds have been implemented as a safety measure to avoid derailments or accidents.
