The train crosses the world’s tallest railway bridge – the Chenab Bridge – offering stunning views of the valley. It also travels through some of India’s longest railway tunnels.
Furthermore, the train connects Katra to Srinagar in just three hours, making it a game-changer for locals and tourists alike. Before this, the only route was the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH44), which often shut down during heavy snowfall or rainfall, especially in winter.
Overwhelming Response Since Day One
The train service officially started the day after its grand launch. Since then, there has been a constant rush of eager passengers, as per officials. The demand is so high that authorities are finding it hard to manage the bookings.
The Rs 43,000 crore railway project is expected to boost tourism and bring economic opportunities to the region.
