Destroy silicone sealant mould within 30 minutes using ‘the only product you need’

Despite sealants being used in bathrooms around areas like the bath, they can harbour dirty and mould over time, ruining the look of a bathroom.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, Emma Rowley, said: “Can anyone suggest a cleaner that gets rid of black mould on bath sealant please?”

Ashely Jones wrote: “HG mould spray is honestly the best thing I’ve ever bought, the only product you need. Just spray and leave everything just disappears.

“No need to scrub, I wipe or rinse the area afterwards and make sure the room is well-ventilated as it’s super strong.”

Stephanie Curtis commented: “HG Mould spray is amazing, you won’t be disappointed.”

Paula Little said: “HG mould spray all the time, it’s fantastic and the mould just melted away on my silicone sealant.”

According to the company behind the spray, it helps to “destroy the most stubborn mould” and can show results “within 30 minutes”.

Britons can purchase the spray from a variety of stores including Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

The description reads: “HG mould spray destroys all moulds immediately and easily. It is a self-acting cleaner that deals quickly and effectively with unhealthy black mould stains.

“These dirty black mould, damp or mildew stains often occur on the silicone seals between the bathtub and tiled wall, in the shower cubicle or on plaster.

“This produces black stains that are bad for your health. HG mould spray removes these stains quickly and easily. Suitable for tile and silicone joints and plasterwork.”

If the sealant is particularly discoloured or mouldy, it might be time to completely replace it.

To do so, use a sealant remover tool to remove the existing sealant, cleaning what is left with a mould remover.

After letting the area dry, reapply the sealant using a cartridge gun, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Simply smooth down the sealant with a smoother tool and leave it to dry completely.
