Batman Beyond 25th Anniversary Comic Compendium Releases In March, Preorders Live At Amazon

After The The New Batman Adventures wrapped up in 1999, few people could have predicted that the next Dark Knight TV series would star a brand-new protagonist under the cowl, fighting crime in the future. Batman Beyond was a radical shift for the Caped Crusader franchise, and like other animated DC shoes, it had some terrific tie-in comic books. In case you missed them, that original run of Tomorrow Knight adventures is getting a reprint inside of one massive 752-page hardcover book. Priced at $60, the 25th Anniversary Edition compendium will be released on March 5.

Batman Beyond: The Animated Series Classics Compendium

Batman Beyond: The Animated Series Classics Compendium is an anniversary celebration of the tie-in comics, and includes all six issues from the first volume alongside the 24-issue run of the second volume. These have never been collected in their entirety before, and as a bonus, you’ll get Batman’s guest appearance in Superman Adventures #64.

Set in the year 2039, Batman Beyond takes place in a world where Batman has long since retired from fighting crime and the new Batman is teenager Terry McGinnis, a troubled youth who takes up the mantle of the bat. Armed with a hi-tech suit and Bruce Wayne’s guidance, this Batman quickly established himself as Gotham’s new protector as he tangled with a new generation of rogues.

A few years ago, DC also published a new Batman Beyond series, teaming up with a great collection of creatives to expand on that universe with thrilling stories. Some of the new volumes are out of stock in paperback format, but you can pick up preowned copies or digital editions of all eight volumes.

The original TV series received a Blu-ray release a few years back, so if you want to catch on the animated series, it is available at Amazon and has been significantly discounted. It comes with all the episodes, a ton of extras, audio commentary tracks, and a remastered version of the feature-length film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

Lastly, you will soon be able to travel back in time to the origins of Bruce Wayne’s alter-ego with the upcoming Batman: Year One Artist’s Edition, which releases on July 16 and looks absolutely stunning. This graphic novel reprints the original four-issue run chronicling Batman’s first year on duty in a deluxe oversized edition filled with behind-the-scenes insight from artist David Mazzucchelli.
